Launching of the 3rd Edition of the CEBU Book
CEBU: A Demographic and Socioeconomic Profile Based on the 2010 Census was launched on June 4, 2015 at the BPI Cebu Library. Also referred to as CEBU BOOK III, this third edition of the CEBU Book series provides an update of the demographic and socioeconomic profile of Cebu Province, Metro Cebu, congressional districts, and Cebu's constituent cities and municipalities. It describes recent trends in population growth and density, age and sex composition, migration patterns, educational attainment, overseas employment and disability. It also includes a discussion of selected characteristics of households and housing units in the province and its administrative components.
The book is published by the University of San Carlos Press and was prepared by the USC-Office of Population Studies Foundation (OPS) with funding from the USC Press and the Philippine Center for Population and Development (PCPD). The authors of the book are Dr. Socorro Gultiano, a Research Fellow at OPS, Dr. Peter Xenos, a Lecturer at the College of Population Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, and the OPS Research Group consisting of OPS Research Fellows, Dr. Nanette Mayol, Dr. Alan Feranil, Dr. Judith Borja; Research Associates, Lorna Perez, Sonny Bechayda; and Computer Specialist, George Soria. Written in memory of Fr. Wilhelm Flieger, founding director of OPS and author of the 1st edition of the CEBU Book, CEBU BOOK III honors Fr. Flieger's legacy calling for increased involvement by academe in national and local development. This demographic fact book gives local executives, program planners and managers, and the public at large, a useful and easy reference about Cebu's population to assist them in the performance of their duties and functions.
